Bhaineamar an-taitneamh as ár gníomhachtaí i rith an seachtain seo. Chanamar amhráin nua agus rinneamar iarracht chun gaeilge a labhairt. Bhí cheolchoirm againn freisin le chéile sa halla. Is breá linn Gaeilge í rang a cúig!
Thank you to Phoebe for organising the Outreach Education Programme visit to our school. Thank you also to National Parks & Wildlife Service staff Karen, Jenni and Liz who visited our school to give a nature themed Powerpoint presentation followed by a show and tell segment with stuffed animals and other props. Pupils really enjoyed the experience.
On the 7th of March last Tuesday 5th & 6th girls competed in the Mini 7's football in Tulla GAA grounds. The girls had a good win over Raheen Wood in the first game but lost out narrowly to Tulla in the second game in a very hard fought out encounter. Well done to all the girls on the day, who played brilliantly. Unfortunately we got knocked out but it was a great day out.
The boy’s football mini 7’s took place in Tulla on Tuesday, March 7th. The team was made up of 5th and 6th class boys and all the boys played an active role in the competition. The boys played Raheen Wood Community National School in the opening game and played really well as a team to win the opening match. The second game was against St. Mochulla’s National School Tulla where the winner would progress to the next round. The boys didn’t get off to the best of starts conceding an early goal but soon found their form and began getting their scores. The boys were down by 2 points at half time but they fought hard to go ahead in the closing stages. Tulla scored a late equaliser to bring the game to extra time. Extra time was extremely tense and both teams worked hard to get their scores. After a period of 10 minutes extra time the teams couldn’t be separated and the game was to be decided on penalties. It came down to the last penalty which Tulla scored to get the win. The boys fought hard throughout the game and should be very proud of their performance.
The 5th Class girls competed in an indoor camogie blitz on Monday the 6th of March. The blitz was played in Cratloe Hall. The girls played Feakle National School in the first game and were victorious on a score line of 6-2. The girls played a very strong Broadford National team in the second game of the day. The girls were 3-0 down at half time and fought back in the second half but were unable to get the win. All the 5th class girls played their part in the games and improved their skills over the two games. Well done girls.
World Book Day was held on the 2nd of March with all classes dressing up as their favourite book characters. There were lots of wacky characters about with the Cat in the Hat and Mario to name but a few. We all had a really fun day and look forward to next years festivities already!
