On Wednesday, 29th May the girls’ soccer team travelled to the Aviva stadium in Dublin to play in the SPAR FAI 5 aside national finals. The girls played three matches against teams from Donegal, Wexford and Roscommon. In the first match, the girls played against Donegal. Crusheen won this match 3-0 with Grace Gleeson scoring a hat trick.
The girls had a short break before playing against Roscommon. This was an easier match for the girls with goals scored by Grace, Síomha, Sarah, Áine and Caoilfhionn. The final score was 11-0.
The last match of the day was the hardest match against the Leinster champions from Wexford. We were lucky to win with a final score of 3-1.
The girls were then awarded their medals and trophy.
We had further good news when Grace Gleeson was awarded “Player of the Tournament”.
After a long day of travelling and matches, the girls were greeted by lots of enthusiastic supporters in Crusheen. Thank you to all the coaches, mentors and supporters who have encouraged the girls on this wonderful journey! Team: Aimee Colleran, Síomha Perill, Sarah O’ Donnell, Grace Gleeson, Clara Butler, Caoilfhionn Perill, Áine Sheedy & Cora Houlihan.
