The boy’s football mini 7’s took place in Tulla on Tuesday, March 7th. The team was made up of 5th and 6th class boys and all the boys played an active role in the competition. The boys played Raheen Wood Community National School in the opening game and played really well as a team to win the opening match. The second game was against St. Mochulla’s National School Tulla where the winner would progress to the next round. The boys didn’t get off to the best of starts conceding an early goal but soon found their form and began getting their scores. The boys were down by 2 points at half time but they fought hard to go ahead in the closing stages. Tulla scored a late equaliser to bring the game to extra time. Extra time was extremely tense and both teams worked hard to get their scores. After a period of 10 minutes extra time the teams couldn’t be separated and the game was to be decided on penalties. It came down to the last penalty which Tulla scored to get the win. The boys fought hard throughout the game and should be very proud of their performance.
