January 2020 Charity fundraiser.
Our classmates provided lots of suggestions for local, national and international charities. As a result, we made lists of all these charities and we narrowed these down to three charities after having a Student Council vote. We gave each class a voting chart and the teachers gave the pupils information on each charity. When all votes were counted up Dogs Trust charity was chosen by the majority of pupils. We held a fun-filled and successful ‘Crazy Hair Day’ on January 31st to fundraise for Dogs Trust.

Christmas Concert 2019 Hall decorating:
We encouraged the pupils to design a Christmas Tree decoration from Recyclable materials.
We also encouraged them to create Christmas designs on blank individual Christmas jumper templates.
Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Repair.
We helped celebrate our schools 40th anniversary and kept the pupils updated on the weeks celebratory activities.
Our committee meets once a month with Ms. Brady. After we have had our monthly meeting we organise a meeting with Ms. O’ Connell to chat to her about our ideas.
At our committee meetings we discuss any issues or tasks that need to be carried out. Our class representatives are given jobs to do. We aim to communicate also with the class teachers, the Parents Association and The Board of Management.
In our role we are conscious of the voice of the child and we have examined the international Law called the Convention of the Rights of the Child particularly Articles 12, 13 and 15.
We have created a Student Council noticeboard in the school foyer for all pupils to view. Classrooms have a ‘Suggestion box’ into which pupils can place suggestions and ideas. All suggestions and ideas are considered by the representatives at each meeting.
We regularly communicate our Student Council news to the student and parent bodies. We visit each classroom regularly and keep all pupils and teachers informed of current developments. We also share our news with the parents through the school weekly newsletter and on the school website through our own Student Council tab and class blogs. Our P.R.O. communicates the dates of our upcoming meetings through posters placed on windows and doors around the school.
