They are learning language associated with books. Thanks to the 3rd class Book Buddies who made today's session very enjoyable. Autumn time has arrived in Junior Infants!
Today we examined and discussed the fruits of the horse-chestnut tree. We hope to use these conkers to work on our estimation and counting skills in Maths as well as including them as part of our Aistear 'Autumn' theme in October. We are very safety conscious in Junior Infants. Thanks to the RSA for providing us with our reflective jackets. It was a very sunny day for our first Maths trail.
We used our 'Maths Eyes' to find 2d shapes all around the school. We found lots and lots of them! Each week the children in Junior Infants learn some useful phrases 'as Gaeilge'. Why not ask your child what the Frása na Seachtaine is for the week!
To date we have learnt the following: Seachtain 1: Seas suas!. Suígh síos! (Stand up! Sit down!) Lámha suas/lámha síos, más e do thoil é! (Hands up/hands down, please!) Seachtain 2: An bhfuil cead agam dul go dtí an leithreas, más é do thoil é? (May I go to the toilet please?) Oscail mo bhuidéal/mo bhosca lóin más é do thoil é/ le do thoil. (Open my bottle/ lunch box, please) Seachtain 3: Dún an doras, más é do thoil é/ le do thoil! (Please shut the door!) Oscail an doras, más é do thoil é / le do thoil! ( Please, open the door!) Seachtain 4: Múch na soilse, más é do thoil é/ le do thoil! (Please switch off the lights!) We love joining in with the whole school and the Active School committee on Fridays for our weekly workout!
It's great fun! Junior Infants are busily preparing for next month's National Maths Week.
We have registered online with Maths Week Ireland and we are now beginning to train our eyes to locate Maths all around us! We look forward to using our 'Maths Eyes' over the coming weeks. |
