What a beautiful morning to conduct some science experiments outside!! We made our own volcanoes using water, bread soda, vinegar and washing up liquid. We are looking forward to lots more outdoor learning this term.
We looked at some Irish legends this week in our History lesson. We retold the many stories that we have learned over the years and we looked at some online images to remind us of the characters. We then created our own pictures showing various Irish legends.
This week has been an exciting week in our school. Our girls' soccer team travelled to the Aviva Stadium in Dublin to take part in the Spar Schools 5 aside soccer tournament finals. We were delighted to hear that the girls won all their matches and they are now All Ireland Champions. The team visited our classroom this week with their trophies and they answered all our questions about the tournament. We also took part in a soccer skills training session on Monday which we really enjoyed. Well done girls, we are so proud!
We are very fortunate to have the renowned storyteller Eddie Lenihan living in our community and today Eddie took us to the townland of Cappafean to visit one of the holy wells in our parish. Eddie told us lots of stories associated with the well and we were delighted to have the opportunity to visit the well.
We were very excited today to welcome the Book Fair to our school. We had very long queues with lots of eager pupils enjoying the chance to invest in some new books!
As part of Book Week, we each chose a book character to dress up as. Well done to everyone for making such a wonderful effort!
As part of our Science lessons this month, we have been looking at the theme of energy and forces. Today we made parachutes using different materials in school. Some of us used paper, others used plastic. We tried various lengths of string and different weights to see which would make the best parachute. Here are some of our results!
